After weeks of speculation, Goldberg’s return to WWE RAW appears to be on the horizon. According to a new report from Bodyslam, the Hall of Famer is set to return next week and is expected to confront none other than World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
“WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg is reportedly planned to make his return next week on RAW. It’s expected that he will be coming after World Heavyweight Champion Gunther,” Bodyslam reported.
Gunther, who recaptured the title in the main event of this week’s RAW by defeating Jey Uso, could now find himself face-to-face with one of the most dominant legends in wrestling history. The two men already shared a tense encounter at Bad Blood 2024, though their confrontation was cut short when Sami Zayn attacked Gunther before things escalated.
With Goldberg scheduled to have his retirement match this year, speculation is heating up that Gunther may be his final opponent, especially considering their unresolved tension and Goldberg’s status as one of the last remaining box office attractions of his generation.
Goldberg’s Final Match Could Be on Saturday Night’s Main Event
Adding even more intrigue, rumors suggest that Goldberg’s farewell bout may happen at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta—his hometown—on July 12. If that’s the case, his return next week could be the first step in building toward a blockbuster send-off match against Gunther.
Gunther’s dominance has made him one of WWE’s top stars, and pairing him with Goldberg for the veteran’s final outing would be a high-stakes, must-see encounter. While WWE has not officially confirmed Goldberg’s opponent, the storyline pieces are already beginning to align.
Another Return Set For RAW
Next week’s WWE RAW is shaping up to be one of the most eventful shows in months. Alongside Goldberg’s return, Asuka will make her long-awaited comeback after more than a year on the shelf due to injury. She’ll compete in a Queen of the Ring Fatal 4-Way match against Stephanie Vaquer, Raquel Rodriguez, and Ivy Nile.
Meanwhile, the King of the Ring tournament will continue with Sheamus, Rusev, Bronson Reed, and a yet-to-be-revealed mystery opponent clashing in another high-stakes Fatal 4-Way.
With Goldberg returning and multiple tournaments underway, RAW next week could be a game-changing show for WWE.
