Trish Stratus, whose real name is Patricia Anne Stratigeas, was born on December 18th 1975, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. She originally pursued a career in fitness and modeling, and she even studied biology and kinesiology at York University.
Her journey into professional wrestling was somewhat serendipitous. While working as a fitness model, she caught the attention of WWF officials and was signed to a contract in 1999. She started training at the WWF’s developmental territory and quickly progressed to the main roster.
Trish Stratus initially debuted as a valet and manager for various wrestlers, but it was her in-ring skills, charisma, and dedication that propelled her to the top of the women’s division. She was a key figure during the WWF’s “Attitude Era” and the subsequent “Ruthless Aggression Era.”
WWE Career
Trish Stratus’s wrestling character underwent several transformations during her career. She started as a valet for wrestlers like Test and Prince Albert but soon became an active competitor herself. Her journey from being a villainous “diva” to a respected and skilled wrestler was a defining arc of her career.
As her wrestling abilities improved, Trish Stratus won the WWE Women’s Championship multiple times and engaged in memorable feuds with other top female wrestlers of her era, including Lita, Mickie James, and Victoria.
Legacy
Trish Stratus retired from full-time wrestling in 2006 but continued to make occasional appearances and participate in special matches. Her impact on women’s wrestling is undeniable, as she was part of a group of women who helped redefine how female wrestlers were perceived in the industry, emphasizing athleticism and skill over mere appearance.
She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, recognizing her contributions to the industry. After her wrestling career, Trish Stratus has been involved in various projects, including acting, fitness ventures, and charitable work.
2023 Return
Trish returned to WWE to wrestle multiple matches in 2023, including a 6-woman tag team match at WrestleMania 39 (aka WrestleMania Hollywood).
She turned heel during this run and feuded with Becky Lynch over who is the greatest female wrestler of all time.
