On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 15, 1989, the World Wrestling Federation aired the ‘WWF Royal Rumble 1989’ event LIVE on PPV from the The Summit in Houston, Texas.
This was the second (televised) Royal Rumble event in WWF history, but the first ever Royal Rumble that was held on Pay-per-view.

• 2 Top Impact Wrestling Stars Leave The Company, Appearing At Royal Rumble 2018?
At the recent set of Impact Wrestling TV tapings, former WWE Stars Bobby Lashley & Ethan Carter III (EC3) finished up with the company. This started immediate speculation that both of them would be returning to WWE at Royal Rumble 2018.

Update 42: EC3 walks around ringside hugging fans as his music plays. He also hugs some of the staff. Seems to be his curtain call.

Dave Meltzer recently noted that while Lashley coming to WWE would be hard due to the way he left, but EC3 returning to WWE is very much expected (especially after he can retain his Impact gimmick in WWE) and WWE officials are interested in signing him as well.
