• “My favorite was The Ultimate Warrior” – Bryan Danielson

In a recent interview on Kiro News Radio, AEW star Bryan Danielson opened up about his early love for wrestling and how The Ultimate Warrior was his childhood favorite.

“Growing up, my favorite was The Ultimate Warrior,” Danielson shared. “You know, when you’re a kid, you like the colors. He looked like a superhero, he shook the ropes.”

Bryan recalled the first wrestling event he attended — a show at the Tacoma Dome where the main event featured Ultimate Warrior vs. Rick Rude. One memory from that night stuck with him: “The Ultimate Warrior did this move where he pulled his (Rude’s) pants down. It was the first time my sister had ever seen an exposed male butt.”

Though he admired wrestling from a young age, Danielson admitted he never imagined he’d become a major star. “No. I had wanted to be a professional wrestler ever since I was in first grade, but I never expected to reach the heights that I did,” he said.

He spent the first decade of his wrestling career on the independent scene. “It was mostly wrestling in front of anywhere from 100 to 1,000 people,” Danielson said. “I’d go internationally, but I just figured that would be my whole career.”

Standing at 5-foot-8 and weighing 190 pounds, Bryan acknowledged he didn’t fit the typical mold. “I’m not your standard professional wrestler,” he added.
