On a recent episode of his weekly ‘Kliq This’ podcast, 2-time WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash spoke about Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling and stated that he believes they will never be able to really compete with WWE eye-to-eye, like Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling did during the famous Monday Night Wars.
Here’s what Big Daddy Cool said about why AEW will never be competition for WWE:
“They (WWE) are so good at packages. Like the Peacock thing they did on Cody, if they want to get you over, they can make it feel like a ’30 for 30′ ESPN special. They can almost make it feel like what this guy is doing is absolutely f**king legitimate. They have that ability.
To me, it’s just like, AEW is the Staples Center. It’s a new arena, and it’s got all the bells and whistles, but all of a sudden, WWE just decides ‘We’re going to do our shows in the sphere. We’re just going to do our shows in the sphere now. That’s just the way it is’.
It’s always going to be that way. You’re never going to f**king compete with that, especially with 17 people in the staff.”
AEW’s weekly flagship show Dynamite was recently defeated in the TV-ratings by WWE’s developmental show NXT this past Tuesday. It’s, however, only fair to mention that NXT did have main roster guest stars like Cody Rhodes & LA Knight, as well as WWE Legends John Cena and The Undertaker on the show that night.
On a recent episode of his podcast, while announcing that he has renewed his Legends Contract with WWE, Nash revealed what it would take for him to sign with All Elite Wrestling:
“Unless it’s 5 or 6 million and a private jet… the only thing that would have got me to AEW. WWE just signed.”
