• 3 Main Reasons Behind Recent WWE Releases

The following 17 wrestlers are gone from WWE:

– Katana Chance

– Kayden Carter

– Shayna Baszler

– Eddy Thorpe

– Gigi Dolin

– Dakota Kai

– Riley Osborne

– Shotzi (contract not renewed)

According to the Wrestling Observer, the main reason for the main roster (RAW & SmackDown) releases was the age of wrestlers and their high salaries:

“Essentially, the cuts are being made because – a lot of it has to do with guys and women getting up in age, and they’re looking at people who they’re not gonna use well compared to their salary going forward.”

On the other hand, the Observer noted that the reason for NXT releases was talent not working hard enough:

“Many of those cut were perceived as not working hard in training. And if you don’t work hard in training, there’s so many people who do. And at this point, if the feeling is you’re not working hard in training – I saw the term ‘lazy’ – the ones who are lazy are gonna be gone, and the ones who didn’t stand out are gonna be gone.”

• Update On Ex-NJPW Star’s WWE Debut After Retirement Announcement

Wrestling fans were left wondering about Jeff Cobb’s next move after he posted a cryptic message on Twitter earlier this week.

Cobb wrote, “16 years is a long time to work, Happy Retirement to me… I’ll let the waves take me to my next destination.” This led some to question if previous reports of him joining WWE were accurate.

Despite the speculation, Fightful Select has confirmed that Jeff Cobb is still expected to join WWE. The report states that his contract is a ‘good deal’, although it’s not yet known which WWE brand he will be a part of.

Cobb finished his time with New Japan Pro Wrestling on April 18.
