Below are the complete results from tonight’s “New Year’s Revolution” edition of SmackDown.
– Kevin Owens def. Santos Escobar to become the No.1 Contender for the United States Championship
Owens will now face Logan Paul for the US Title at Royal Rumble 2024 later this month.
Logan began talking trash after the match, which led to Owens laying out Paul with a punch.
– Austin Theory and Grayson Waller showed support for Logan in a backstage segment, while Cameron Grimes made fun of Logan. Grayson almost got into a fight with Cameron.
– Bobby Lashley announced his entry into the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match. Karrion Kross, Scarlett and the returning Paul Ellering then appeared on the stage, while the returning Authors of Pain aka AOP (Akam & Rezar) attacked Lashley and The Street Profits from behind.
Kross joined the assault and laid out Lashley with his finisher to send a message to the entire roster.
– IYO SKY (c) def. “Michin” Mia Yim to retain the WWE Women’s Championship
– Paul Heyman was asked to comment on The Rock calling out Roman Reigns on RAW. Heyman said Rock isn’t invited to the Head of the Table, but he knows why The Great One called out The Tribal Chief.
Heyman said there’s two sure ways to go viral in the world – date Taylor Swift and call out Roman Reigns. He mentioned how John Cena and Brock Lesnar returned and targeted Roman in the past after Roman won a match.
He also mentioned how CM Punk has already called out Reigns. Heyman also said “welcome back” while talking about Punk. Heyman then showed frustration about Cody Rhodes still talking about “finishing his damn story” despite losing at WrestleMania 39.
Heyman ended his promo by saying that Reigns will smash whoever wins the No.1 Contenders match later tonight.
– In a backstage segment involving Damage CTRL, Bayley said he wants The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) to go after the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Dakota Kai then said Bayley should win the Royal Rumble and challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 40.
Bianca Belair interrupted and announced her entry into the Women’s Royal Rumble. Belair said she can’t wait to eliminate Bayley from the match with a KOD and become a 2-time Royal Rumble match winner.
– Butch’s mystery partner was NXT wrestler Tyler Bate, who made his official SmackDown debut tonight.
– Butch & Tyler Bate def. Pretty Deadly
– Former Hit Row member Ashante “Thee” Adonis told SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis that he feels lost on the blue brand, but he’s hungry. Aldis has something in mind for him.
– Randy Orton vs. LA Knight vs. AJ Styles in a No.1 Contenders Match ended in a No Contest
Randy had AJ beat after the RKO, but LA pulled the referee out of the ring during the pinfall count. LA was busted open. Roman Reigns then came out and The Bloodline attacked all 3 men. Roman powerbombed AJ, Superman Punched & Speared Knight, and then laid out Orton with a Spear-Spike combination along with Solo Sikoa.

Nick Aldis wasn’t happy with this and told Paul Heyman to inform Roman that it’ll now be a Fatal 4-Way match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Royal Rumble 2024: Reigns vs. Orton vs. Knight vs. Styles!
