Rusev defeated Sheamus last year to win the WWE United States Championship and he is still the US Champion and will be defending the title at WrestleMania 31.
The current plan is to do a rematch between John Cena and Rusev at WrestleMania 31 for the US championship, where John Cena is scheduled to win the US title and end Rusev’s undefeated streak (no pinfalls and submissions).
A better way to handle this situation is to add Sheamus to the match (as a heel). In this way, Cena can still win the match and Rusev can still carry his momentum by remaining unpinned.
