• Backstage News On Why Kenny Omega Retained The AAA Mega Title Over Andrade El Idolo

At the recent AAA TripleMania XXIX show, AEW World Champion Kenny Omega defeated Andrade El Idolo to retain the AAA Mega Championship.

This match also featured Ric Flair taking out Omega & Konnan. You can watch it below:

According to the Wrestling Observer, the original plan was for Omega to lose the AAA Mega Title to Andrade, but AEW requested AAA to hold off on that plan and book Omega to retain.

AEW has creative control over Omega’s matches in other promotions and that’s why they were able to change the planned finish.

AEW didn’t want Omega to lose his Titles so quickly, as he lost the Impact World Championship to Christian Cage a day before on AEW Rampage, and that’s why they changed the finish, so Omega can head into AEW’s All Out 2021 PPV as a double champion (AEW World Champion & AAA Mega Champion), where he’ll defend the AEW World Title against Christian Cage.
