• Backstage News On Tony Khan’s Massive AEW Announcement
During a recent interview on Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan said the following:
“There will be a lot of news in the week ahead. I don’t know if I’ll get it done by tonight but stay tuned in the week ahead.
I’m working on something pretty big. It would be massive.
I don’t know if it’s what anybody would expect it is or think it is, but this would be a big deal in pro wrestling.
I’m looking forward to hopefully making it happen. Stay tuned. I hopefully will get it done and will have more to announce soon.”
According to the Wrestling Observer, this ‘massive announcement’ could be a business deal instead of a new talent signing:
“I know whatever it was it was not a done deal on Thursday, because he was still doing meetings on it, so but, he was excited. He did say it was a big deal.
I didn’t sense it was a guy, but more like a business deal. Not sure if it’s new content or a television deal overseas.
I didn’t get the sense that he’s putting together some giant signing.”

• Old School Wrestling Veteran Celebrates His Birthday
Old School Wrestling Veteran Gedo (Real name: Keiji Takayama) turns 53 today.
The popular Puroresu legend started his professional wrestling career in 1989 for New Japan Pro Wrestling, but later also wrestled for All Japan Pro Wrestling, Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, the Universal Wrestling Association (Mexico), Wrestle Association R, and even Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling.
The highlight of Gedo’s occasional WCW appearances in 1997 & 1998, was wrestling “Lionheart” Chris Jericho on the Halloween Havoc 1997 pay-per-view.
He’s still an active NJPW wrestler nowadays and is also the head-booker for the company, that has unfortunately lost all its former glory, since Antonio Inoki sold it in 2005.
