In a revealing sit-down with UFC Hall of Famer Matt Serra, RAW Superstar Karrion Kross dove deep into a classic locker room debate: Who is the toughest guy in WWE today? Serra opened the conversation by referencing a question that has echoed through wrestling locker rooms for decades – the same one where names like Haku and Rick Rude used to dominate the answer sheet.
“Who’s the toughest guy in the locker room right now?” Serra asked. “That’s a question a lot of people used to ask back in the day. Haku was the answer, Rick Rude, guys of that nature. If you were at a bar and sh*t went down, who’s the guy you’d want standing next to you?”
Kross didn’t jump to conclusions. Instead, he gave a thoughtful breakdown of what toughness really means in today’s WWE landscape. “I’m not bullsh*tting – everybody in that locker room is really, really, really tough,” Kross said. “How do you measure what tough is? If you’re working a 25-minute match, landing on your back and your head for 25 minutes – that’s how I kind of measure who’s really tough.”
While acknowledging the grit of the entire roster, Kross did entertain Serra’s question and considered who might stand out as the most physically imposing force in WWE today. “Gunther’s been beating up everybody. He’s a World Champion, he’s gigantic – a very large human being. He just chops meat out there,” Kross said. “How much does he weigh? Gunther’s probably 240, I think. Dude, you got the framework.”
Serra, ever the fighter, pressed further and jokingly added: “Listen, I don’t want to start sh*t, but all I know is – what belt is Gunther in Jiu-Jitsu? You’re looking at the most dangerous guy in the locker room,” hinting that real combat experience, not just physical presence, can often be the true test of toughness.
But when it came to naming one man who fits that “bar fight, no rules” scenario, Kross had a surprising answer. “Chad Gable,” he declared. “Really. Chad Gable.” According to Kross, Gable’s legitimate wrestling pedigree and aggressive mindset make him uniquely dangerous in a real-life confrontation. “He’s got an amateur background – 100% legit,” Kross explained. “He’s won nationals, state, gold medals, stuff like that. He transitioned into pro wrestling, and I would say him – because he’s a lunatic.”
Kross didn’t mince words when describing Gable’s edge in combat: “He’s the guy who, you know, like Mark C somebody, he’ll stick his chin in the guy’s eyeball. He’s definitely one of those people. He’s very calm, very chill – as you’d expect from somebody who’s a Master Level Grappler.”
While names like Gunther may get the spotlight for their dominant in-ring presence, Kross’ pick of Chad Gable shows how real-world experience and a no-nonsense mentality often separate the true toughest from the rest.
As this locker room debate rages on, one thing is clear – toughness in WWE isn’t just about size or strength. It’s about grit, mindset, and a background in real combat sports. And in that department, Kross believes Gable is at the top of the food chain.
