During a recent interview with ‘Muscle Man Malcolm’, Jeff Hardy was asked if he would want to wrestle CM Punk, now that both are in All Elite Wrestling, which would basically be a rematch from their famous SummerSlam 2009 pay-per-view main event.
Here’s what Jeff replied:
“Yeah, I haven’t thought about a match that much, I mean, I have a little bit, I just think what I’ve seen more than anything is there’s just a huge moment between me and CM Punk, because of the history alone.
Ultimately, I could see us having another match and I think it would be bizarre in the best of ways.”
The storyline between them was that Jeff had well documented substance abuse issues in the past, while Punk has always been straight-edge, so they couldn’t possibly have been any more different, when it came to their lifestyles.
Jeff Hardy was then asked about his recent in-ring return and his current health, to which he said the following:
“It’s the last run, the last good Hardy Boys run. I still have hopes, deep within my soul, that I’m going to have one more solo World Championship title reign.
I have no idea. I’m a big believer that something could happen before I get home tonight that would end my career.
It’s the little things that kill sometimes. I can’t put a number on it, but I feel like I’m going to be rocking until I’m 50.
I’m 45 now. Between now and 50, I think I’m going to create many more moments.”
Jeff Hardy wrestled for several promotions during his long career, including the World Wrestling Federation / WWE (1994-2003, 2006-2009, 2017-2021), Total Nonstop Action! / IMPACT Wrestling (2004-2006 & 2010-2017), Ring of Honor (2003 & 2017), and is currently working for Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling since February 2022.
He’s a former 6x World Champion, including 1 run as WWE Champion, 2 runs as World Heavyweight Champion (in WWE) and 3 runs as the TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
