All Elite Wrestling announced the shocking news of CM Punk’s release from the company just hours before AEW Collision in the city of Chicago on Saturday.
A lot of people in Chicago attended Collision to watch Punk, but he wasn’t there due to obvious reasons.
AEW President Tony Khan addressed his decision to fire Punk before Collision went on air, but the Chicago crowd wasn’t happy and showered him with boos.
Apparently, AEW security was confiscating signs about CM Punk from fans during the show.

Fightful Select confirmed this in their report as well.
At the end of Collision, The Young Bucks (who previously weren’t allowed on Collision due to their issues with Punk) came out to save AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR when Bullet Club Gold attacked them.
After the show, Nick and Matt Jackson seemingly celebrated Punk’s release from AEW while some people in the Chicago crowd chanted Punk’s name.
Matt Jackson was seen doing a victory lap.
