• RAW Star Says WWE Put Her In A Difficult Spot At Survivor Series
Nikki Bella challenged Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames last Saturday, ultimately coming up short. Their match was slotted third on the card, immediately after John Cena’s final Premium Live Event match and right before the main event, something the WWE Hall of Famer believes created a tough situation.
While speaking about the match placement, Nikki admitted that she knew right away that WWE had put her and Vaquer in a challenging position.
“I knew where we were at on the card. We were in the difficult spot. I knew we weren’t going to have a lot of time, and we had to tell a specific story. For me, the one thing that I was told was, ‘We need super heelish.’ What they realized going into it was, if you didn’t watch the past few weeks, you would have no idea that I was a heel. They were afraid that I might go out and be a babyface.”
Nikki added that the video package airing beforehand helped establish her character before the match because she did not get enough time to build herself as a solid heel.
“They were like, ‘We need heel Nikki.’ I haven’t been heel Nikki since before I broke my neck and I’m like, ‘Damn, I’m doing all these things in the moment live.’ It’s one thing when you’re doing all the live events and you can change things.
This is what I told myself: ‘We’re doing bad b*tch energy. At the end of the day, it’s all about confidence and when your music hits, you’re going to go out there and have all that confidence. You’re going to be this person and that’ll get you into that moment. Go as slow as you want doing your walk. You own it.’”
• Zilla Fatu Explains Why WWE Didn’t Acknowledge His Father Umaga’s Death
Umaga tragically passed away at the age of 36 after suffering a heart attack in 2009. Just a couple of months before his death, WWE had released him for refusing to enter rehab following a second violation of the company’s Wellness Policy.
WWE chose not to acknowledge the former two-time Intercontinental Champion’s demise.
Speaking on Maven’s YouTube channel, Umaga’s son, Zilla Fatu, discussed the company’s decision and said that it was likely due to the circumstances in which he passed away.
“I think in their minds, maybe it was because of the reasoning of him passing away. Maybe they didn’t want to shed the light on that. I don’t know, but I just wish he was acknowledged. But it’s okay ‘cause he’s getting acknowledged through my work.”
