AEW Star Criticizes Tribal Combat Between Jey Uso & Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns Vs Jey Uso 5 SummerSlam 2023 WWE PPV WrestleFeed App

In the main event of the WWE SummerSlam 2023 premium live event, Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat match to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and remain The Tribal Chief.

The match saw interference from Solo Sikoa, but that wasn’t enough, as there was a miscommunication between Reigns & Solo, and Reigns accidentally hit Solo with a Spear.

It looked like Jey had Roman beat once again, but Jimmy Uso returned and stopped Jey from pinning Roman.

Jimmy turned heel and superkicked Jey. Roman then speared Jey through a Table set up in one of the corners in the ring and pinned his former “Right Hand Man” to pick up the win and continue his 1,070 day title reign.

On an episode of SmackDown, Michael Cole made it clear that the rules of Tribal Combat are “anything goes”, so basically a Street Fight or a No Holds Barred match, with No Disqualifications.

However, AEW personality Mark Henry wasn’t clear enough on the rules and had the following to say about this match on Busted Open Radio:

“The thing that threw me off was not that I didn’t think [Jey Uso] was going to win, even though I knew he wasn’t going to win. But the rules were not described to me enough that I was able to understand why Solo was able to do anything.

I thought it was about honor. I thought it was about not being involved, that you forfeited the chance to be the Tribal Chief by interference, or anything like that.

I also didn’t get enough understanding of why Jimmy would help. Why?”
