Below are some top AEW news stories of the day.

• In the past 5 years, AEW has made notable strides, including improvements in talent signings and production values. Despite these advancements, they still don’t match WWE’s global dominance. Recently, WWE has been accused of encroaching on AEW’s market, especially ahead of the upcoming All In PPV at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has expressed strong interest in hosting WrestleMania in the city, leading to significant developments. WWE is now in talks to possibly hold a WrestleMania event in London, with Triple H and Nick Khan recently visiting London for a meeting with Sadiq.

During an interview on Busted Open Radio, AEW wrestler Thunder Rosa commented on WWE’s discussions about potentially bringing WrestleMania to London. She found the timing of WWE’s announcement notable, as it came just before AEW’s All In event on August 25th.

Rosa suggested that WWE’s move was strategically timed and part of a broader effort to strengthen its market position, potentially encroaching on areas All Elite Wrestling is also targeting.

Here’s what the former AEW Women’s World Champion said:

“I think it’s very interesting, the timing that this is happening. It’s so interesting… It’s game on. Game is on and they are doing everything business-wise to become a company that is bulletproof and now (they’re) targeting a market AEW is targeting. It’s capitalism 101.”

• Earlier this year, AEW unexpectedly released several wrestlers, including Jose the Assistant, surprising many fans. Jose The Assistant had been managing La Facción Ingobernable and working with talents like Andrade and Rush since 2021. However, he was let go in April.

Now navigating free agency, Jose The Assistant hinted at a new opportunity in a cryptic Twitter post. He highlighted the letters “N,” “X,” and “T,” leading many to speculate that he might be heading to WWE’s NXT brand.

Here’s what he tweeted:

“Time tick tick tick tick tick tick ticks away, but it only brings once one, step, closer to what is NeXT.

I can wait, but how soon is SOON?”
