• AEW Wrestler Explains Why He Almost Ended His Life In 2019

AEW wrestler Anthony Ogogo won a Bronze Medal in Boxing at the 2012 London Olympics.

In 2019, he suffered a fractured eye socket in a Boxing match loss, which forced him to retire from the sport.

This injury resulted in many complications and botched surgeries. He even attempted to sue for loss of earnings, but failed in the end.

All of this led to him wanting to end his life, but his wife saved him.

Below is what Anthony said during an interview with The Independent:

“I was generally suicidal and there’s one night in my life, it was December 2019, if my wife wasn’t home that day, I probably would have ended my life that night because I was beyond the brink but thankfully my wife and I were able to address my life.

She literally saved my life – that was my ground zero and I’ve built up from that.

I gave my life to Boxing and I had nothing to show for it other than bad vision, no money, no belts and no titles.

I lost my career, I lost my passion, lost my livelihood and I had to sit and watch people who have half of my ability grow and become World Champions and multi-millionaires.”

Anthony has been wrestling on AEW’s YouTube shows for almost a year now. His last match on TV was on the June 4, 2021 episode of Dynamite.

The biggest match of his pro-wrestling career to date took place at the AEW Double Or Nothing 2021 pay-per-view, where he lost to Cody Rhodes. After this match, he underwent an eye surgery.
