Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day:
• During an interview with Wrestling with Johners, Attitude Era star Scotty 2 Hotty (real name: Scott Garland) confirmed that he’s working backstage in All Elite Wrestling these days.
Below is what the former WWF Tag Team Champion & Light Heavyweight Champion said:
“I’ve been working for AEW as a Producer behind the scenes. As a Coach and Producer there. And I have the opportunity to do more with them on a regular basis.
So it looks like probably at the beginning of the year, I’ll be going pretty hard with them. If everything works out the way I hope it does.”
• WWE now lets cities bid on their big premium live events nowadays.
Royal Rumble 2024 will take place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on January 27th.
Jason Latimer (Public Relations Director for Visit St. Pete-Clearwater) revealed that they paid $500,000 of its tourist development tax funding to WWE to secure the Royal Rumble premium live event.
Below is what Jason said during an interview with The Catalyst:
“The exposure and marketing benefits, and the visitation we’re going to get from this, are astronomical. We can take those monies that we collect from those visitors in their overnight stays and reinvest them in capital projects here, which will increase visitation.”
