The Headbangers originally wrestled for the WWF from 1996 until 2000, but were brought back to the company in 2016 after the roster split, when WWE needed more Tag Teams.
In an update regarding their status, both Mosh & Thrasher have signed a WWE Nostalgia Agreement (aka WWE Legends Contract).

Thrasher wrote the following on Facebook:

The Headbangers are former WWF Tag Team Champions and Thrasher also held the Hardcore Championship during the Attitude Era.
