Below are a couple of top AEW news stories of the day:
– The Mogul Embassy were feuding with Sting and Darby Allin on the road to AEW All In, which led to All Elite Wrestling announcing AR Fox and Swerve Strickland vs. Sting and Darby Allin in a Coffin Match for their biggest show ever.
However, plans changed at the last moment and AEW replaced Fox with Christian Cage in the match after Fox got pinned by Nick Wayne on the Dynamite before All In. This also led to Fox being kicked out of The Mogul Embassy.
According to Fightful Select, Fox’s last international show was in 2016 and AEW didn’t feel that he was “forthright” about his ability to work overseas.
Even though he’s “well liked” in the company, he still had heat on him for not being a part of All In, the report further stated.
Fox turned babyface and tried to fix things between him & Allin and him & Wayne on last week’s episode of Collision.
– Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Swerve Strickland teamed up with Christian Cage against Sting and Darby Allin in a Coffin match at this past Sunday’s AEW All In pay-per-view at the Wembley Stadium in UK.
Sting and Darby Allin won the match after putting Strickland into the coffin.
AEW President Tony Khan mentioned on the AEW All Out media call that Strickland missed this week’s Dynamite, but he did not specify what he was originally supposed to do at the show.
Before this week’s Dynamite, Khan had announced that some big talents would miss the show due to minor illnesses and Hurricane Idalia affecting flights.
Strickland was slated to attend Starrcast in Chicago during All Out weekend, but the convention announced on Thursday that he won’t be appearing there due to injuries he suffered at All In.
It’s unknown what kind of injuries Strickland is dealing with, and when he will return. He’s also not scheduled to compete at All Out this Sunday.
