• Backstage News On 3 AEW Stars Appearing On Last Night’s WWE RAW

On the June 27, 2002 episode of SmackDown, John Cena made his official WWE debut.

On last night’s June 27, 2022 episode of RAW, Cena made his return to WWE programming to celebrate his 20th anniversary.

Video messages from former WWE wrestlers were shown on RAW, where they congratulated Cena.

The following 3 current AEW stars also appeared on RAW via video:

– Chris Jericho

– Big Show

– Daniel Bryan

According to Fightful Select, WWE contacted AEW and asked their permission for the above video messages. AEW President Tony Khan had no issue with it:

“We’re told that the situation was very straightforward in making it happen. The idea was pitched, and then AEW founder Tony Khan was contacted in order to see if he’d be okay with it.

Given the circumstances surrounding the videos, he was said to be okay with the videos and provided approval.

A WWE source told us that they were able to land virtually everyone they hoped to for the ‘congrats’ videos.

These instances have been few and far between since AEW launched in 2019.”
