In one of the co-main events of WWE SummerSlam 2023, Cody Rhodes defeated Brock Lesnar to end their feud.

After the match, Lesnar showed respect to Rhodes. The Beast shook The American Nightmare’s hand, hugged him and raised his arm.

You can watch it below:

During the post-show press conference, Cody said he’s incredibly grateful for what Brock did for him. Cody said he looks up to Lesnar the same way his father Dusty Rhodes used to look up to Harley Race.

He said he has finally found his character, and who he truly is.

What Lesnar did for him, you have to earn it, and Cody said he thinks he has earned it.

Triple H said Brock doesn’t get enough credit for being one of the greatest of all time. He implied that Lesnar hugging Rhodes and showing him respect wasn’t scripted, and it was a “holy sh*t” moment for himself, as well as the fans.

Lesnar is currently on a hiatus from WWE.

According to Xero News, Lesnar has a verbal agreement with WWE to stay with the company at least until WrestleMania 41 in 2025:

“Brock Lesnar has a verbal agreement to stay with WWE until WrestleMania 41. No word if he would stay after that.”

Prior to WrestleMania 39, Lesnar told Daniel Cormier during an interview that he originally retired from WWE after WrestleMania 36 in 2020:

“In 2020, I retired and was gonna be just done because I had my 20 years, then COVID hit, my contract was up. I had my very first wrestling match in Hamel, Minnesota, in an empty garage.

There I was 20 years later fighting Drew McIntyre in front of no people for the WWE Championship. I was like, you know what, it came full circle, and I was truly done.”
