WWE Hall of Famer Edge wrestled his last hometown match in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Friday’s episode of SmackDown against Sheamus.
Edge won this first time ever match with a Spear and got a pyro celebration after the match.
In an interview with FAN Morning Show, Edge revealed that his WWE contract will expire at the end of September.
“I can’t say I haven’t thought about it, I have, for sure, but I realize that I haven’t come to any conclusions, and I’m kind of torn, honestly.
I don’t want to do this to the point where I don’t feel like I’m able to have the output that I want. Only I know how I feel when I’m deep into a match. ‘Ooff, okay, didn’t do enough cardio’ or ‘I did all the cardio and still feel this way.’
That’s why I really want to collect myself after this thing, take a big ol’ deep breath and decide what that is. My contract is up at the end of September. This was my last contracted match. I have a lot of decisions to make. I know that’s not a clear answer, but I don’t have it yet.”
According to Fightful Select, there are many people in AEW who think that Edge signing with Tony Khan’s company is a real possibility. People close to him claimed earlier this year that the idea of him working in All Elite Wrestling isn’t as “out there” as one could think.
Edge has many friends in AEW including Christian Cage, The Hardy Boyz and FTR. If he wants to continue wrestling and have a run with them, he may sign with AEW in the future, but it is impossible until September.
This also means that Edge won’t be able to make a surprise appearance at All In at Wembley Stadium on August 27th.
