Backstage News On If Blood Was Planned For Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes

Brock Lesnar Vs Cody Rhodes Backlash PPV 3 WWE WrestleFeed App

In the main event of last night’s WWE Backlash 2023 premium live event, Brock Lesnar lost to Cody Rhodes.

Lesnar got busted open during the match after going head-first into an exposed turnbuckle. Cody pinned Brock while being locked in the Kimura Lock.

The referee threw a towel at Brock after the match, so he could clean himself up.

Some fans think Lesnar used a blade to make himself bleed last night. A fan tweeted:

“His forehead never made contact with the turnbuckle, and he wasn’t bleeding until he touched his face. Blade was in his glove.”

A fan then showed the video of Lesnar clearly hitting the turnbuckle and bleeding right away from the wound on his head, so there was no time to perform a blade job.

You can watch it below:

In an update from Fightful Select, the involvement of blood was indeed planned for this match, and it wasn’t an accident.

This is why the referee didn’t put on his gloves right away when Lesnar started bleeding (which they usually do when someone gets busted open accidentally).

Lesnar bled the hard way, by hitting his head on the turnbuckle. He has done this in the past as well, both with himself (WrestleMania 31 & Hell In A Cell 2015) and his opponents (Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2016 & Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34).

Cody tweeted the following regarding his victory over The Beast:

“Claim it.”

Below is what Cody’s wife, former WWE Ring Announcer Brandi Rhodes, tweeted about it:

“My husband is covered in blood and it’s not his. Praise Him 🙏🏾”
