• Backstage News On If Finn Balor Will Bring Back The Demon For WrestleMania 39
At Extreme Rules 2022, Edge lost to Finn Balor in an “I Quit” match, after The Judgment Day threatened to attack his wife, fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Best Phoenix.
Despite saying “I Quit” to lose the match, Rhea Ripley went on to attack Beth with a Steel Chair.
After this, “Brood” Edge vs. “The Demon King” Finn Balor inside Hell in a Cell was planned for Royal Rumble 2023, but that didn’t happen.
Instead of that, both Edge and Balor entered the Men’s Royal Rumble match.
Edge was busy filming Disney+ series ‘Percy Jackson and The Olympian’, where he will play ‘The Greek God of War’ Ares, and couldn’t appear on TV before the Rumble to build up to the Hell in a Cell match, which resulted in the match being nixed.
At Elimination Chamber 2023, Edge & Beth defeated Finn & Rhea. Two nights later on RAW, Finn cost Edge his US Title match against Austin Theory, by kicking him in the head.
After the match, Finn hit Edge with his finisher 3 times.
The planned Hell in a Cell match between Edge & Finn is scheduled to take place at WrestleMania 39 now.
According to Fightful Select, some WWE Officials aren’t in favor of Balor bringing back his Demon persona at WrestleMania Hollywood:
“Some in the company felt as if The Demon persona didn’t fit during the current iteration of Judgment Day, and were against it in this situation.”
However, there are a few people backstage who feel that this match needs the extra buzz of The Demon’s return.
Finn last used his Demon gimmick in 2021, where he lost to Roman Reigns in a Universal Championship match at Extreme Rules.
