• Backstage News On Samoa Joe Winning The AEW World Title Again

Samoa Joe defeated “Hangman” Adam Page in a Steel Cage Match at Full Gear to become a two-time AEW World Champion. The finish came after HOOK shocked everyone by turning heel and attacking Page.

The outcome surprised many fans, especially since Page’s title reign lasted only four months after he won the gold at All In: Texas. Some assumed AEW made a sudden call to shake things up heading into 2026, but that isn’t the case.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Samoa Joe’s AEW World Championship win had been in the works for a while. The company has a plan for his reign and it wasn’t a last-minute decision.

Swerve Strickland returned at the end of Full Gear to help Page against The Opps. Based on how the show closed, it appears Joe’s second AEW World Title reign will begin with The Opps feuding with Page and Strickland.

• WWE’s Original Plan For Penta vs. Solo Sikoa Revealed

On last night’s episode of WWE RAW before Survivor Series: WarGames, Penta faced Solo Sikoa in the quarter-finals of The Last Time Is Now Tournament.

The match ended abruptly when Penta landed awkwardly on the floor after attempting a hurricanrana off the barricade. WWE’s medical team immediately checked on him, and the bout was stopped, allowing Sikoa to advance to the semi-finals via doctor’s stoppage.

The Wrestling Observer reports that WWE’s planned outcome was not affected by the injury, despite the early ending to the match. Solo Sikoa was originally slated to win the bout with a normal pinfall finish and move on to face GUNTHER in the semi-finals.

As previously noted, Penta’s injury is legitimate, and WWE was forced to cut the match several minutes short because of it. The match only lasted 4 minutes and the original plan was 12 minutes.

• Mercedes Moné Reacts To Bret Hart’s Criticism Of Today’s Wrestling & Multiple Big Names

3-time WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart was in headlines all over the weekend for a string of blunt comments made during his appearance on the Johnny I Pro Show.

Hart took aim at several aspects of modern wrestling, calling today’s style “too fake.” He also slammed Sheamus’ punches as an embarrassment and labeled Hulk Hogan and Jake “The Snake” Roberts “two of the biggest pieces of sh*t in wrestling.”

He went on to describe Ric Flair’s “ball shot” as a “stupid move”, once again blasted Goldberg as unprofessional, and even alleged that former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels were sleeping with each other. Hart also added that he doesn’t know who MJF is, admitting he barely watches wrestling today.

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné reacted to the comments on X and wrote:

“Can you say something nice about me Unc [Heart emojis] @BretHart”
