• Backstage News on Who Jon Moxley Wanted to Win: Will Ospreay or Hangman Page
“Hangman” Adam Page walked out of Double or Nothing with a big win in the main event for the Men’s Owen Hart Cup—a result that caught much of the AEW locker room off guard. According to Fightful Select, AEW kept the finish of the match a secret for as long as possible. While it had been believed that the wrestlers learned the outcome the day of the show, sources told Fightful that both Page and Will Ospreay actually found out earlier in the weekend.
Interestingly, Page reportedly wanted Ospreay to go over, while Ospreay felt Page should win. AEW World Champion Jon Moxley was said to be in favor of a Hangman victory leading up to the show. Despite all the opinions, Tony Khan kept his decision close to the chest. Wrestlers backstage noted that Khan didn’t give any clear answers when asked about the outcome ahead of time.
The match itself was hard-hitting but didn’t raise any health concerns. Both competitors were said to be in good shape after the match.
Backstage, the mood was described as positive, with many praising the match and the event as a whole. Morale in AEW has reportedly been strong lately, and this show only added to that.
As always, Tony Khan made the final call—and in the end, he went with Hangman Page, who will now face Moxley for the World Title at All In: Texas.
