• Backstage News On Why Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton Is Happening At WrestleMania 42
It turns out the upcoming WrestleMania 42 clash between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Championship happened largely because Cody wanted it.
According to Self Made Pro, The American Nightmare was the one behind the scenes pushing for this specific match. He reportedly felt that facing The Viper was a massive, main-event level idea that was perfect for a stage as big as WrestleMania.
Because he was so involved in the planning, Rhodes actually knew this was the plan as early as February.
The story between Randy and Cody started 19 years ago in 2007, and this Teacher vs. Student match is expected to main event Night 1 of WrestleMania 42.
Their latest match against each other took place at Night of Champions 2025, where Rhodes defeated Orton to become the King of the Ring.
• Brock Lesnar Allegedly Causing Big Booking Issues Backstage In WWE
Triple H and the WWE creative team have run into a major roadblock while planning Brock Lesnar’s role for WrestleMania 42.
According to Self Made Pro, a new demand from Lesnar and Paul Heyman is causing a lot of stress behind the scenes. The duo has reportedly told WWE officials that Brock should stay undefeated until the day he finally retires. This means he isn’t willing to lose any more matches, which is a huge problem for the company’s future plans.
This “no-loss” rule makes it almost impossible to book the matches fans are begging for, like Lesnar vs. Gunther or Lesnar vs. Oba Femi.
Normally, these bouts would end with the veteran putting over the younger star, but that can’t happen if Lesnar won’t agree to lose.
Oba Femi and LA Knight are among the names rumored to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. The Wrestling Observer recently noted that Oba is more likely to face The Beast.
We’ll keep you updated if other insider sources have anything to say about this report, since Lesnar has put over several top stars from the current era and usually doesn’t have any problem in doing so if the booking and the money is right.
