Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton’s heated segment on the April 4th episode of SmackDown is still making waves—and now, more backstage details are coming to light. According to reports that align with Wrestling Observer Live’s account, what started as a scripted promo quickly spiraled into unplanned territory, leaving the locker room stunned and digital producers scrambling.

According to Fightful Select, the general consensus among WWE talent and staff is that Charlotte Flair was the first to go off-script. Her line calling herself the “nepo queen” wasn’t in the original plan, but it didn’t raise many eyebrows. Things took a turn, however, when she began mocking Tiffany Stratton’s voice in a high-pitched impression—a move that didn’t sit well with some behind the scenes.

A number of people backstage felt that Stratton “needed to fight back,” but going personal without clearance was considered a step too far. Her sharp “0-3” jab, referencing Flair’s three divorces, wasn’t approved beforehand. Nor was Flair’s now-viral “Is that why Kaiser’s in my DMs?” comeback.

Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez confirmed this, noting: “The discussion about divorces and everything, that was all in the script. But the line about 0-3 which was a reference to how many times she’s been divorced, that was not in the script.”

Even Charlotte addressing the Chicago crowd’s loud boos directly wasn’t planned, but sources backstage brushed that off as “run-of-the-mill ad libbing that would never get anyone any heat.”

What did get heat? The personal shots. WWE digital producers were instructed to cut out both Flair’s mocking of Stratton’s voice and the relationship-related jabs from the YouTube version of the segment. Still, USA Network’s YouTube channel left the full exchange intact, leading to widespread fan discussion online.

Backstage, the atmosphere was a mix of shock and awkward humor. One source described the whole segment as a “wreck.” While both Flair and Stratton reportedly faced some backstage heat, there were no signs of any major fallout afterward.

Interestingly, not everyone was upset. Backstage at RAW, many reportedly laughed at Ludwig Kaiser’s name being dragged into the chaos, with insiders saying he was “a good sport” and even leaned into the attention.

For now, WWE hasn’t made any public comment on the segment—but as the situation continues to generate buzz, it’s clear that this wasn’t just another scripted feud.
