• 3 Latest AEW Departures Revealed, Chris Jericho’s Status
AEW’s handling of recent contract expirations has added renewed attention to Chris Jericho’s status, even as no internal signals suggest he has left the company.
According to Fightful Select, AEW circulated internal notices regarding expiring deals for Mercedes Martinez, Matt Taven, and Alex Abrahantes. Those names were subsequently removed from AEW’s official roster page, a process the company has consistently followed when contracts lapse. Jericho was not included in those communications.
Despite being absent from AEW television since the spring of 2025, Jericho remains listed on the roster page, and no memo has circulated internally indicating that his deal has expired or been terminated.
Jericho re-signed with All Elite Wrestling following All Out 2022. There has been no confirmation that the contract was paused, extended, or otherwise altered during his time away from TV.
AEW representatives were contacted by Fightful in an official capacity to clarify Jericho’s status but did not respond.
Sources familiar with the situation say AEW continues to have a strong working relationship with Jericho, while also acknowledging that creative decisions to keep him off television were influenced by concerns that the audience had grown fatigued with his on-screen presence.
On the WWE side, sources indicated that Jericho has not been discussed creatively and was not included in any plans they had seen for the January 5th RAW.
At present, there has been no indication within AEW that Jericho has exited the company, and no confirmation from WWE that he is involved or expected to be involved in their programming.

• Post-RAW Update On Chris Jericho
Despite online speculation, Chris Jericho did not appear on tonight’s WWE RAW, and there was never an expectation internally that he would.
According to PWInsider, Jericho was not scheduled for the show and is currently in Los Angeles. Sources within WWE said his name was never part of the creative discussions.
Much of the speculation stemmed from a line delivered by Adam Pearce on Sunday, where he said: “Who can break down the walls?” With RAW airing as part of a Stranger Things crossover-themed episode, PWInsider noted the comment was intended as a nod to the series’ wall imagery tied to the Upside Down, not a tease of Jericho.
PWInsider reiterated that no WWE sources they spoke with believed Jericho would be at the show. They added that it had found nothing supporting the return rumors weeks earlier, and that position had not changed leading into RAW.
