Disco Inferno says AEW has a pattern of rewarding favorable media coverage with employment, a claim he made while responding to recent comments from AEW World Champion MJF about bias in wrestling journalism.
Speaking on Konnan’s K100 Podcast, Disco addressed MJF’s viral remarks accusing some reporters of favoring WWE. Disco argued that if journalists are pushing an agenda, AEW is the promotion benefiting from it.
According to Disco, a segment of wrestling podcasters and online personalities openly praise All Elite Wrestling because they believe it can lead to jobs within the company. He claimed this belief exists for a reason, pointing to real-world examples where vocal AEW supporters were later hired.
Disco specifically cited Will Washington, who went from podcasting into an AEW role, as proof that positive coverage can translate into employment. He said situations like that send a message to others in wrestling media that backing AEW publicly can pay off.
“If there’s anybody, any people that have an agenda in wrestling journalism, it’s the AEW stans. These dirtsheet podcasters and marks think that if they say good things about AEW, they’ll get hired by them, and it’s actually happened. Will Washington got hired. People see that. If you say good things, Tony (Khan) might hire you.”
He contrasted that approach with WWE, saying the company does not hire people based on social media loyalty or public praise. Disco argued that WWE hiring decisions are driven by professional qualifications rather than who is saying the right things online.
Disco also pointed to AEW owner Tony Khan frequently acknowledging supportive media figures and appearing at industry events, which he believes reinforces the perception that favorable coverage is noticed and rewarded.
He went on to compare the two companies’ positions in the industry, saying WWE’s production scale, distribution deals, and platform reach far exceed AEW’s. In Disco’s view, that gap undermines claims that WWE is the promotion benefiting most from media favoritism.
Disco dismissed MJF’s comments as ironic, suggesting they were motivated by loyalty to his employer rather than an honest assessment of wrestling media dynamics.
