Big Spoiler On The WWE Title Match For Royal Rumble 2018

WWF WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title Belt Champion

As seen on this week’s episode of Raw, the mega match between John Cena and Roman Reigns was made official for No Mercy 2017 with a contract signing between the two former multi-time World Champions.

According to the Dirty Sheets podcast, the original plan for this feud was for them to team up and face Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose for the Raw Tag Team Titles at No Mercy 2017. Cena & Reigns were scheduled to win the Titles, but would’ve dropped them back to Rollins and Ambrose at the next PPV.

Reigns & Cena would have then collided in their first ever singles match together at Survivor Series 2017. However, that plan got cancelled because the makers of the Bumblebee (Transformers) movie (which John Cena is going to be a part of) didn’t want Cena wrestling in WWE during the filming of the movie due to a recent incident where Cena got dropped on his neck by Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown Live. This is the reason why Cena vs. Reigns match got moved back to No Mercy 2017.

Another thing that should be noted here is that John Cena is going to miss the Survivor Series PPV this year as well (because he’ll be taking time off from WWE TV after No Mercy 2017). With that being said, Dirty Sheets is now reporting that when Cena is done filming the movie, he’ll be returning to SmackDown Live to go after his record 17th WWE World Title reign by challenging “The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal for the WWE Title at Royal Rumble 2018 (the PPV where Cena won his 16th WWE World Title an year back).

Cena & Mahal have faced each other in a televised match only once and that match was won by Cena via DQ when Baron Corbin interfered.
