Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories of the day, involving Ric Flair and Survivor Series 2024.

• When AEW announced their multi-year deal with Ric Flair in late 2023, the announcement also promoted Flair’s Woooooo Energy drink. Flair was introduced as a gift from Tony Khan to Sting ahead of Sting’s retirement at the Revolution 2024 pay-per-view. Flair expressed his excitement to accompany Sting until his retirement.

AEW President Tony Khan revealed that Flair’s deal was structured similarly to Randy Savage’s with WCW in the 1990s. Just as WCW’s Slim Jim sponsorship covered Savage’s salary, the Wooooo Energy drink sponsorship is supposed to cover Flair’s salary. “We’re not paying Ric Flair; Ric Flair is essentially paying us,” Khan said in a New York Post interview. “We’re getting paid by Wooooo Energy for all of his appearances, so we’re collecting revenue from them.”

However, the Wrestling Observer noted that recent AEW broadcasts have lacked Wooooo Energy drink graphics, suggesting that the sponsorship deal may be over:

“There was no explanation given but unless something changes, it does look like that deal is over with.”
