• Bobby Lashley Busted Open During World Title Tournament, SmackDown’s Semi-Final Set
In the opening match of tonight’s SmackDown, AJ Styles defeated Edge and Rey Mysterio in a Triple Threat Match in the 1st round of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament.
Styles pinned Edge to advance to the Semi-Finals. We reported earlier that Triple H didn’t want Edge to win the World Heavyweight Title (the title that he never lost) due to his part-time status.
In the second match of the night, Bobby Lashley defeated United States Champion Austin Theory and Sheamus in a Triple Threat Match in the 1st round of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament.
The All Mighty pinned the US Champion to win. Lashley got busted open during this match.
Styles vs. Lashley will now take place in the Semi-Finals later in the night, with the eventual winner going on to face Seth Rollins in the Finals of the tournament at Night Of Champions on May 27th.
In a backstage segment, NXT call-up Grayson Waller told Adam Pearce that he will interview the winner of Styles vs. Lashley on the Grayson Waller Effect on next week’s SmackDown.
