Dominik Mysterio (son of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio) officially became a WWE Superstar in 2020.

His first match took place at SummerSlam 2020, where he lost to Seth Rollins in a Street Fight.

Dominik later went on to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship with his father Rey, and even turned heel on him later, which resulted in them squaring off in a match at WrestleMania 39, where the father defeated the son.

Dirty Dom recently revealed that WWE originally wanted him to start his career in NXT, but they changed their plan later.

On an episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, current NXT commentator Booker T said Dominik starting his career in NXT would’ve been a mistake.

Below is what the WCW Legend said:

“[Dominik’s] not like Rey Mysterio, but he’s like Rey Mysterio at the same time, if you understand what I mean.

He’s so much taller, but his athleticism, his timing, the grace, the flawlessness, he does everything. He does everything good.

I was listening to him talk and he was saying that the original plan was to start him out in the NXT program and I think that would have been a mistake. I really do.

I think they’ve slipped on a banana peel and they got a bona fide star that they’re going to be able to work with for the next 15 years.”

Dominik is currently one of the top heels in WWE on the RAW roster. He gets massive heat from the fans every time he cuts a promo.
