• Old School Wrestling Legend Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 78th birthday of Old School WWF/NWA Legend “The Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff (Real name: Oreal Donald Perras).

In 1971, he defeated then WWWF World Heavyweight Champion Bruno Sammartino for the title in what is said to be an even more shocking moment than what we witnessed at WrestleMania XXX, when Brock Lesnar broke The Undertaker’s streak.

Those who were in Madison Square Garden on January 18, 1971 said that you could hear a needle drop after Koloff had defeated Bruno via pinfall.

The Russian Bear has yet to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, a very deserving honor that they missed out on while he was still alive.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & REST IN PEACE

• Braun Strowman Recalls Vince McMahon’s Comments That Pissed Him Off

In a sneak peek of an upcoming episode of WWE Chronicle, former Universal Champion Braun Strowman discussed his meeting with Vince McMahon before Royal Rumble 2019.

The WWE CEO told him that he wasn’t ready to be Champion then, about which he said:

“He gave me a really hard pill to swallow. Vince McMahon told me that it’s not my time yet, that he’s not ready for me to be a champion, that something isn’t right.

I don’t know if it’s something I’ve done, if it’s something that I need to do. I have trust in Vince and that Vince is looking out for the company and my well being, but at the same time, hearing him say that it’s not my time. It f*cking pisses me off.

I want this more than anything else in the world. I want to cement myself in history as the greatest big man to ever do this. I will be WWE Universal Champion. I will be headlining WrestleMania. I will be a Hall of Famer. It’s not a matter of how, but when.”
