• BREAKING NEWS: Jim Crockett Jr. Passes Away
We are saddened to report that Old School NWA Promoter Jim Crockett Jr. has passed away. He was 76 years old.
WWE Hall of Famer Robert Gibson (of The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express) broke this sad news on Facebook.
Here’s what he wrote:
“Rest In Peace Jim Crockett, Jr. You will be missed by so many.”
For those who don’t know, Crockett recently went into hospice care with kidney and liver issues. He had reportedly taken himself off dialysis.
AEW tweeted the following about Crockett’s passing:
“AEW and the wrestling world mourn the passing of the legendary Mid-Atlantic Wrestling and NWA promoter Jim Crockett, Jr. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends and his fans.”

Jim Jr. was the owner of the National Wrestling Alliance’s #1 main territory ‘Jim Crockett Promotions’ from 1977 until the promotion was sold to Ted Turner in November 1988, who renamed it ‘World Championship Wrestling’.
After selling his promotion, Crockett still remained the NWA President until 1991, a position he held since first being elected in 1980.
