Sami Zayn hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since defeating Daniel Bryan to retain the Intercontinental Championship on Night 1 of WrestleMania 36.

Zayn hasn’t been working WWE events due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Due to this reason, he has been stripped of the Intercontinental Championship.

This announcement was made on tonight’s episode of WWE Backstage on FS1.

WWE has announced that a tournament will begin on this week’s SmackDown to determine the new Intercontinental Champion.
