• Brock Lesnar Reportedly Handpicked Finn Balor For Royal Rumble 2019 Match
At Royal Rumble 2019, a first-time ever match for the Universal Championship will take place when “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar faces Finn Balor.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Lesnar handpicked Balor to be his opponent for Royal Rumble 2019.
Brock Lesnar vs. Finn Balor for the Universal Championship was originally planned for Royal Rumble 2018, but it didn’t happen because Vince McMahon didn’t think Balor belonged in the main event scene.
However, with Lesnar having good matches with AJ Styles & Daniel Bryan (at Survivor Series 2017 & 2018), both Vince & Brock are interested in the idea of Lesnar facing Cruiserweight opponents.
With that being said, Balor isn’t expected to win this match and Lesnar will head into WrestleMania 35 as the Universal Champion.
With Balor not winning, expect him to not use his “Demon” persona for this match (as Vince wants to protect that persona).
