This episode was pre-taped in St. Louis, Missouri and featured matches & interviews on the road to the first ever WrestleMania event.

• Reason Behind Finn Balor Facing Brock Lesnar At Royal Rumble 2019
As we noted earlier, Vince McMahon cancelled Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble 2019 after Strowman destroyed Vince’s limo.
Vince then announced a Fatal 4 Way #1 contenders match between John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor & Baron Corbin, with the winner facing Lesnar for the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble 2019.
In the main event of last night’s RAW, Finn Balor won the Fatal 4 Way to become the new #1 contender after he pinned John Cena by hitting his finisher.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Brock Lesnar vs. Finn Balor at Royal Rumble 2019 was “always the plan” because Vince McMahon realised it’s not a good idea for Brock to defeat Strowman once again (as plan is for Lesnar to head into WrestleMania 35 as the Universal Champion).
So Vince decided to put Balor in the match against Lesnar, as he feels Balor getting a match against Brock and losing would still be good for him (as it puts him back in the main event picture for a while).
