Kurt Angle has expressed criticism of WWE’s decision to end The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania undefeated streak, which he believes should have remained intact as a defining part of The Undertaker’s legacy.

The streak, which began in 1991 with The Undertaker’s victory over Jimmy Snuka, included wins against several major stars & legends. It became a cornerstone of WrestleMania, often rivaling the importance of a World Championship match. However, at WrestleMania 30 in 2014, Brock Lesnar ended the streak, a move that shocked fans and continues to spark debate.

Speaking on Story Time With Dutch Mantell, Angle stated that he found WWE’s decision unnecessary, arguing that Brock Lesnar didn’t need the victory to elevate his career, as he was already a major star. He believed The Undertaker deserved to retire undefeated at WrestleMania.

Here’s what Angle said:

“Yeah, you know what? I think they were so worried about making the other athlete when they didn’t really need to. You don’t need to make Brock Lesnar. And, you know, just the prestige of being undefeated at WrestleMania — to carry that with your legacy — Undertaker deserved that.

I was dumbfounded when I saw him lose. I was like, ‘Why?’ I was like that guy in the crowd after Undertaker lost, the one with his eyes just wide open. That was me too. I was like, ‘Holy sh*t, I couldn’t believe it!’

And I’m thinking, ‘What are they thinking? Why would they do that?’ The other guy didn’t need it. He should have retired undefeated. I think it was the wrong person. I think Undertaker should have stayed undefeated.”
