• CM Punk’s departure from AEW after the backstage fight at All In was reportedly influenced by Bryan Danielson, according to Fightful Select.
A discipline committee was quickly formed, led by Danielson and AEW General Counsel Chris Peck, taking over responsibilities from Chief Legal Officer Megha Parekh.
Despite Punk’s positive contributions and a longstanding friendship, Danielson believed the decision to terminate Punk was the right one.
He addressed the AEW roster about Punk’s departure, acknowledging the difficulty of the decision. Some members of the roster thought Punk was aware that Danielson was part of the disciplinary committee.
Bryan tweeted the following recently:
“My dad always told me, ‘The right thing is often the hardest thing to do. It won’t always make the most money. It won’t always be the most popular. But it’s still the right thing’.”
• During his promo on RAW, CM Punk said all the people backstage in WWE showed him love and were happy to see him back, and that it was like a family reunion.
According to PWTorch, Punk tried to reach out to everybody backstage in WWE and was ‘very nice’ and ‘humble’. He was also in a very good mood.
Regarding this nice behavior of Punk, a wrestler told PWTorch that “he knew he kinda had to be”, while another one said “he seemed pretty positive all around, but we’ll see in a couple of months if it sticks”.
When PWTorch asked a WWE wrestler if they are skeptical about Punk’s good behavior, they said ‘yes’ and noted that “about half of the wrestlers are iffy about if this is sustainable”.
• After CM Punk mentioned his wife, former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee, during his promo on RAW, this began speculation that she could be returning as well. However, PWInsider reports that there have been no talks about AJ’s return, who retired in 2015.
