Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring the Punjabi Prison Match and Trish Stratus.
• There was almost a 4th Punjabi Prison Match in WWE, featuring Jinder Mahal and Roman Reigns.
During an interview with Maven, Mahal reminisced about his Punjabi Prison Match against Randy Orton at Battleground 2017 and shared this intriguing behind-the-scenes detail:
“Actually, there was almost a fourth time. It was gonna be myself and Roman Reigns in Chicago.
This was originally a match designed for The Great Khali, who legitimately in Punjab, was a police officer.
The first time was supposed to be Great Khali and Undertaker. Great Khali couldn’t be in the match, and Big Show was a substitute. The second time, Dave Bautista and Great Khali. Third time: myself and Randy Orton.”
At Money In The Bank 2018 in Chicago, Reigns defeated Mahal in a normal singles match instead.

• WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus revealed that a pitch she made for a segment with Triple H was rejected during the RAW 1000 episode in 2012, where WWE revisited some of her past moments.
In the early 2000s, Trish and Triple H had a storyline that included a playful but suggestive segment – HHH teaching Trish the Hammer Lock (where Trish bent in front of HHH), with Stephanie McMahon walking in on them. This moment was humorously recreated during RAW 1000, with Trish teaching yoga to Triple H before DX interrupted.
Speaking on Inside the Ropes, Trish shared her alternate idea for the RAW 1000 segment, proposing a funny backstage moment with Stephanie McMahon that would have been a nod to their past interactions.
Here’s what the multi-time Women’s Champion said:
“I had proposed something — tell me how this would’ve played out. I suggested that Stephanie and I could’ve been backstage, and I’d be showing her a few yoga moves, and then Triple H walks in. Wouldn’t that have been much better? Right? Like, super cute.
It would’ve been one of those ‘if you know, you know’ moments. As you can tell, when I did my comeback, I love those ‘if you know, you know’ moments. That would’ve been a fun callback for me, personally.
But anyway, it didn’t happen, and they rejected it. You know how it is, that’s how it goes sometimes. Have you ever heard that? Sometimes it just doesn’t happen. Anyway, it was fun!”
