On last night’s SmackDown, Sami Zayn defeated Carmelo Hayes to win the United States Championship. During the ending moments of the match, Trick Williams punched Carmelo and Sami took advantage.
After the match, Nick Aldis announced Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 42.
Former United States Champion Baron Corbin (aka Bishop Dyer / Tom Pestock) tweeted the following about this title change:
“Just my opinion but @Carmelo_WWE got screwed. He deserves a mania match!! Him and Ilja made that title matter again! Sh*t give me Ilja vs @_trickwilliams vs Melo at mania”
Regarding the announcement of Sami vs. Trick at WrestleMania, Corbin wrote:
“Make it a 3 way!! @Carmelo_WWE has carried that for months and has delivered!!”
A fan wrote: “Tom can you please be a writer for WWE?”
Corbin replied: “Never ever.”

Becky Lynch isn’t apologizing for staying at the top of WWE and she’s calling out a massive double standard involving Roman Reigns to prove her point.
Appearing on the Cheap Heat podcast, The Man addressed the common criticism that veteran stars hold down younger talent. Instead of denying it, Lynch leaned into the villain role, challenging the locker room to try and take her spot. She made it clear that if a younger wrestler wants to be the face of the company, they have to be good enough to go through her first.
The most interesting part of the interview was when she compared her workload to that of Roman Reigns. Lynch pointed out that while she is on every show and wrestling in every town, Reigns gets praised even though he is rarely around.
“You don’t do that with Roman. He’s never around. He comes out, everybody goes, ‘oh, yay.’ Not me. I’m around all the time… getting in the ring with everybody.”
Becky believes she deserves her spot because she shows up every single night.
