Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories of the day, featuring the Continental Classic and Big E.
• AEW announced updates to the Continental Classic tournament during this week’s episode of Dynamite. The tournament finals will still take place at the AEW Worlds End PPV on December 28, but the semi-finals will now also occur at the event.
In the semi-finals, the Gold League winner will face the Blue League runner-up, while the Blue League winner will compete against the Gold League runner-up. This is a change from last year’s format. The semi-final winners will then meet in the finals to determine the AEW Continental Champion.
The inaugural tournament in 2023 featured the Blue League winner facing the Gold League winner in the finals. Eddie Kingston was crowned the first AEW Continental Champion after he defeated Jon Moxley in the finals at Worlds End last year.
