• Chris Jericho Comments On WWE Not Being Able To Sign Top Free Agent
After Jay White left NJPW, reports came out that Triple H wanted to sign the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion to a WWE contract.
However, White ended up signing with AEW, where some of his friends work. He even wrestled in All Elite Wrestling while being under contract with NJPW in the past, due to AEW’s partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Chris Jericho had the following to say about this on the Battleground podcast:
“Jay White, what a great example of us still having momentum. Hottest free agent in the world. Silver platter for WWE. The guy is 6’4”, he’s international, he has the accent, which chicks love.
He’s a great worker, great heel, great babyface. He chose AEW. If that doesn’t tell you that something is going on with us, I don’t know what will. Just to continue to build that momentum is a very exciting prospect.”
For those who are wondering, White isn’t 6-foot-4. His billed height is 6-foot-1 (which is usually more or at least the same as the real height).
