During a recent episode of his podcast, Chris Jericho revealed that he was only making $350,000 a year during his time in WCW, while even mid-carders like Scott Norton and Stevie Ray (Booker T’s brother) were making $750,000, thus earning more than twice of what he did.

Here’s what Y2J had to say:

“They didn’t see in me what I saw in me and even the deal, remember the deal they offered me? They came back with a new deal. I was making, I think I went from 135(K) to 165(K) to 200(K). Then next round was 250(K), 300(K), 350(K). That was what we agreed on.

Then they came back with this whole, remember the tiered contract system? Keep in mind, that’s a lot of money, but in WCW, Scott Norton and Stevie Ray and those types of guys were making 750 grand. 350 for me, wasn’t really all that much money in comparison to the other guys.

They came back with that deal, it was structured, ‘if they sell this many tickets, you’ll make this much’.”

Jericho wrestled for Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling from August 1996 until July 1999, only to join the World Wrestling Federation, where he made his debut on the August 9th 1999 episode of WWF RAW IS WAR.

He would go on to win many different championships in his long, illustrious WWF/WWE career, but ‘only’ managed to win the Cruiserweight Championship (4x) and the World Television Championship during his time in WCW.
