• Chris Jericho Reveals How AEW Star Saved His Life

During an episode of AEW Dynamite in 2021, Chris Jericho said the following about Jake Hager (fka Jack Swagger in WWE) during a promo:

“This man had my back when I was threatened with assassination in Abu Dhabi in 2012.”

On his podcast, Jericho discussed this incident in detail.

In 2012, WWE did 3 Live Events in a week in Abu Dhabi. The WWE Superstars went to a club on their off days over there and that’s where this incident happened.

A man was acting inappropriately (or as Jericho said on the podcast, being an a$$hole, yelling & screaming) and when that guy passed Jericho the next time, Jericho decided to give him a hip check blow and the guy went down.

The guy didn’t do anything then, but he was waiting for Jericho outside along with his friends.

Below is what Jericho said about what happened when they met outside:

“He goes, ‘My dad owns 27% of this company. And I’m putting a bounty on your head. In the next 24 hours, you are going to be killed and I’m gonna pay them $7 million.’

I remember Jake going, ‘Don’t do it man. This is the wild west. They will kill you here. They’ll f**king string you up, they’ll hang you.’

The only reason I didn’t take a wild swing with my stupid key was because Jake told me not to.

If he had not told me not to fight this guy, I would have [fought] him, and who knows what would have happened, so therefore, in pro wrestling logic, Jake Hager saved my life!”
