Drew McIntyre kicked off tonight’s RAW by addressing his loss to World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins last week. McIntyre said maybe he is indeed holding himself back from becoming champion and that he needs to walk away from WWE for a while.
McIntyre then changed his tune and said he lost due to Damian Priest trying to cash-in the Money In The Bank contract. Drew then brought up how fans have openly welcomed back CM Punk and that maybe he should leave for 9 years too.
CM Punk then came out. McIntyre congratulated Punk for managing to stay in WWE for over a month now.
McIntyre said he knows the real CM Punk. McIntyre said Punk used to call himself the locker room leader when he was the WWE Champion, but Punk was never the real leader. Drew said he needed the support of a real leader back then because he was dealing with some demons, but Punk thought of him as a threat and didn’t want to help.
Drew noted that he stuck around in WWE and said:
“I am your leader now, kid.”
Punk said Drew left the company, came back better, won the Royal Rumble and main evented WrestleMania. Punk said he’s going to do the same thing, but Drew and Seth Rollins have a problem with it.
McIntyre said he’s going to be in the Royal Rumble too and he’s going to eliminate Punk.
Punk said:
“You can’t stop me from winning the Royal Rumble. Seth can’t stop me from winning the Royal Rumble. Cody can’t stop me from winning the Royal Rumble.”
Punk said since he’s such a nice guy, he’s going to eliminate Drew in the end to win.
