Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring CM Punk and Damian Priest.
• CM Punk, who returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, is reportedly looking to restructure his contract with the company, expressing a desire to stay with WWE “forever”.
Here’s what WrestlePurists reported:
“I believe [his deal is for 3 years]. I can tell you right now that he is in the process of trying to get his deal restructured from a money and years standpoint.
Punk’s legitimate stance right now is if all goes well he will never leave. That’s his legitimate standpoint. He wants to be here forever is the actual word he used.
Basically, he wants this to work out, he wants to get paid, and then he wants, when it’s time to slow it down, to slow it down and just run NXT.”
Since his return, Punk suffered a torn triceps during his first televised match back at the Royal Rumble but has remained active on WWE programming. He has been involved in a feud with Drew McIntyre, frequently interfering in McIntyre’s pursuit of the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk is set to make his in-ring return at SummerSlam, facing McIntyre in a singles match with Seth Rollins serving as the special guest referee.

When asked about this during the post-show press conference, Triple H joked that the referee’s decision is final. Human beings are in the ring, mistakes happen. It is what it is. It’s a shame that that’s all people are going to remember from this match.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Drew McIntyre’s music hitting was NOT supposed to break up the count.
During an interview with The New York Post, Priest hinted at possibly getting injured during this match, which resulted in this botch:
“The idea that I forgot to kick out, that’s not a thing. We don’t forget to kick out. 20 Years in, I’m pretty sure there is some kind of muscle memory there. So me forgetting was not the case. There was nothing outside that was supposed to happen. It was a matter of there was a situation, but I’m OK. Everybody’s fine, the story continues.
It doesn’t affect anything. The show goes on and I think fans are very invested in everything that’s going on. The ones that matter knew the situation and nobody thought twice about it. It was, move on.”
New York Post noted that Priest didn’t want to get into anything medical around the situation, saying it was personal.
